Storyboarding highlighted specific tasks that makers could accomplish with our application. The next step is understanding how our application would actually work together as a whole.
A sitemap breaks down a system into navigable high-level components and their related sub-components. We set out to create an information architecture (IA) diagram to organize and create one cohesive application. We began by incorporating earlier ideas from our team’s design sketches and storyboards into the navigation of the application. The finished diagram became our sitemap, serving as a visual representation of how all of our pages intertwine and connect with one another.
Information Architecture
The process of creating our sitemap helped us understand which features and capabilities were the most crucial to the functions of our application. Through our next step – paper prototyping – we wanted to test if users understood how the navigation of our application worked.
